Practitioners in this area quantify, assess and report emissions and emissions reductions that result from the activities of organizations, entities, facilities or GHG emissions reduction projects. Within this area, practitioners can be certified in the following specializations:

Practitioners in this area act as the independent party that evaluates how a GHG inventory has been established and/or reported against program criteria and/or a specific protocol that states expectations of greenhouse gas accounting principles. Within this area, practitioners can be certified in the following specializations:

Quantification

Auditing

Team Lead

Eligibility Requirements 

In addition to the basic EP eligibility requirements, EP(GHG) applicants must also complete and submit GHG Work Logs, to demonstrate unique verification or quantification competence.These work logs document the verification, validation or quantification activities that you have conducted which will be validated and reviewed by an independent GHG professional.

The cumulative experience from the Work Logs will be assessed to ensure that:

• An applicant has the required technical competence, as defined by the Occupational Standards; and
• A minimum of two (2) Work Logs were completed under ISO or comparable (IPCC, CDM) standards.

1. Create an account and complete your application

Select the GHG title and specialization(s) that you are applying for, and then fill out the information regarding your employment and education history. Professional practice and GHG training details will also be submitted in your application. Click on the links below to submit your professional practice. After you have entered this information, you will be required to pay the application fee and agree to the EP Code of Ethics.

If you do have formal training, send your certificate directly to ECO Canada via email or fax.

2. GHG certification exam

When the Registrar confirms your eligibility, you will be required to schedule and write an online examination within three (3) months of being approved. The GHG Exam Guide will outline the required knowledge and resources for the examination.

3. Expert review

Your application will also undergo a qualitative review by a GHG professional. The reviewer will be assessing your education, experience and professional practice to ensure they meet the certification requirements.

4. The Board reviews your application

Our EP Registrar will review your application to ensure that all components are complete, verified, and meet or exceed the National Occupational Standards by the EP Registrar, the Canadian Environmental Certification Approvals Board (CECAB) will review EP(GHG) candidates on a monthly basis for final approval.

5. Maintain your designation

Once your application has been approved by the Board, you must pay your annual membership fee. To maintain your designation, each year you must:

• Pay your membership fee
• Ensure your contact and employment information is up-to-date, and
• Upload or enter your professional development activities.

Fees

You are required to pay a one-time application fee and membership fees annually.

Please note that application fees are non-refundable even in the event of an unsuccessful application.
 

Please note:

1) Fees are paid in US dollars with the exception of applicants from Canada who will pay in Canadian dollars (plus applicable taxes).

2) A late payment charge of $100 will be applied for late payment of annual membership fees.
