Job Description:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Events and Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for implementing Green Calgary’s events and marketing plans and leading communications. The position requires an individual who shares our passion and commitment to the goals and values of Green Calgary and can work closely with the staff to plan and implement strategies, including promoting and expanding the reach and impact of Green Calgary through the development of relationships with key audiences, development of a compelling and consistent Green Calgary brand, and events. The successful candidate will start in this position in early August, 2012.
Key Responsibilities:
Events:
Lead the development, promotion, and execution of charitable functions and community events, including volunteer recruitment and management, vendor relations, venue selection and contracting, and supporting the Director, Resource Development in securing sponsorships
Recruit and manage event volunteers
Marketing & Communications:
Develop, implement, and manage marketing and communication activities and materials
Development of tools and materials that will effectively communicate Green Calgary’s mandate, activities, and impacts to our members, the public, potential partners and financial supporters
Ensure brand consistency across all platforms
Manage and work within the marketing budget
Develop and manage Green Calgary’s website and social media plan and activities
Lead the preparation and production of Annual Report
Cultivate and maintain a media contact network
Prepare required reports on results of events and communications activities
Other tasks as required
Qualifications:
Commitment to Green Calgary’s mission and values
Commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups including staff, Board, volunteers, donors, program participants and other supporter
Post-secondary education in marketing, communications, public relations or related program
Events management experience
Minimum 3 years of experience in a related field; preferably in the non-profit or social enterprise sector
Knowledge of development of marketing and communication plans
Existing relationships with local media and potential donors would be considered significant assets
Skills:
Strategic, independent, analytical, creative, innovative thinker
Entrepreneurial self-starter who enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong communication skills—verbal, written, editing, public speaking, media interviewing, and interpersonal
Strong computer and design skills—Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent
Design skills
Strong planning and project management skills and the ability to manage and prioritize a variety of initiatives concurrently
Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
Research skills
Openness to new ideas
Strong team leadership skills, with the ability to teach, mentor and coach
Additional Information:
Compensation:
Salary is budgeted at $40,000 - $45,000 and will be commensurate with experience. Please state salary expectations in your response. Green Calgary Association is open to flexible work options given the right candidate.
