SUMMARY:2025 National Model Codes - A New Era of Building Performance
DESCRIPTION:The 2025 National Model Codes\, including the National Energy Code for Buildings (NECB) and National Building Code (NBC)\, are now released.\nThis edition of the codes represents a significant shift in how Canada approaches building performance. For the first time\, the codes introduce clear\, measurable limits on operational greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. They also add new compliance pathways and updated climatic data that better reflect the realities of a changing climate\, while strengthening energy-efficiency requirements. A new Part 10 introduces best practices for alterations to existing buildings. This all signals a move toward decarbonization\, energy-savings\, resilience\, and thoughtful future-proofing of our building stock. Join us for an overview of the changes and why they matter to communities across the country.\nSpeaker: \nHeather Elliot \nHeather is a leader in the building science sphere\, focused on the investigation and repair of existing building envelope systems\, and applying 15+ years of consulting experience and knowledge to new building design\, retrofit\, and commissioning. Heather has experience utilizing building science principles to troubleshoot detailing conditions in various types of construction\, from low-rise residential to high-rise towers\, commercial and institutional facilities. She has worked on a variety of projects across Alberta\, as well as in neighboring provinces and the United States. She believes in finding practical solutions to ensure the lifespan of new infrastructure as well as making use of the building envelope and integration with other building systems to drive performance\, sustainability\, and passive efficiency for resiliency.

SUMMARY:GHG Accounting Training
DESCRIPTION:This full-day training session\, organized by ECO Canada\, is designed to provide professionals with a comprehensive and practical understanding of greenhouse gas (GHG) calculation and management.\nThe program supports organizations in strengthening their capacity to measure\, track\, and reduce emissions in alignment with ESG requirements and Net Zero objectives. Participants will develop a strong foundation in GHG accounting\, including the classification and calculation of Scope 1\, Scope 2\, and Scope 3 emissions. The training emphasizes real-world application through hands-on exercises focused on data collection\, emission factor selection\, carbon footprint calculation\, and emissions tracking and reporting. \nThe program also addresses emission reduction target-setting methodologies and the development of decarbonization strategies\, including mitigation measures\, sector-specific pathways\, and an overview of Net Zero principles. This training is ideal for environmental\, sustainability\, ESG\, and management professionals seeking practical skills to support informed decision-making and advance the transition to a low-carbon economy. \nCome enhance your professional credentials and contribute to a low-carbon future by registering for the GHG Management Training Program! \nAgenda:\n\n8:30 – 9:00am – Check-in and networking\n9:00 – 10:20am – Training\n10:20 – 10:30am – Break\n10:30 – Noon – Training\nNoon – 1:00pm – Lunch\n1:00- 2:30pm – Training\n2:30 – 2:40pm – Break\n2:40-4:00pm – Training\n4:00 – 4:30 – Networking and closing
