SUMMARY:AI and the Future of Environmental Consulting: Impacts on Business Models\, Work\, and the Workforce
DESCRIPTION:Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping environmental consulting\, but not in the ways many expect.\nDrawing on new research based on labour market modelling\, employer interviews\, and an industry workshop\, this webinar explores how AI is transforming consulting workflows\, business models\, and workforce dynamics. Participants will gain practical insight into where AI is already being used\, why traditional time-and-materials billing models are under pressure\, how roles are\nchanging\, and why talent pipeline compression poses the greatest long-term risk. \nThe session will also address governance\, risk\, and what firms can do now to turn AI into a strategic advantage rather than a source of disruption. \nSpeakers:\n \nGeni Peters \nGeni Peters is an economist with a Ph.D. in Economics from Texas A&M University. As Labour Market Information (LMI) Manager at ECO Canada\, she is responsible for the management\, execution and delivery of environmental LMI projects\, working with an army of professionals comprised of staff\, consultants\, strategic advisors and subject matter experts. \nBefore joining ECO Canada\, Geni applied her knowledge and skills in a wide range of roles and industries. She worked as a lecturer for 14 years\, teaching a wide range of economics courses and supervising student research projects at UC San Diego and Penn State University. More recently\, she managed labour market research initiatives including economic modelling and reporting at PetroLMI Division of Energy Safety Canada (formerly the Petroleum Human Resources Council) and conducted economic research and analysis at Brown Economic Consulting. \n \nMotunrayo Cole \nMotunrayo Cole currently works as the Research Lead on environmental labour market information at ECO Canada.  She brings a wealth of experience in statistics\, survey design\, data analysis and reporting on key indicators such as job openings\, representation\, and labour shortages for environmental professionals. She has worked on and led the delivery of technical research across a range of topics including market outlook\, benchmarking salary\,  demographic profile analysis\, and net zero projects. \nWith a Masters in International Economics and Project Management\, She contributes to bridging the gap in information between job seekers and employers by providing insightful research reports geared at matching labour supply with hiring demands of evolving employers and industries across Canada.
