SUMMARY:Accreditation: Preparing the Green Workforce of Tomorrow. Experiences of CICan Members
DESCRIPTION:Join CICan and ECO Canada in a dynamic presentation from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and Sault College about environmental program accreditation’s positive outcomes and challenges. A French webinar will follow. \nSpeaker: Lynn Goulding\nProfessor\, School of Natural Environment –  Sault College\nBio: Lynn Goulding is a dedicated faculty member at Sault College\, Sault Ste. Marie\, Ontario\, where she has taught in the areas of environmental science and water resources for nearly 25 years. Lynn is an alumnus of Sault College’s Water Resources Engineering program\, and Forestry program and holds a BSc.in Biology from Algoma University. Passionate about protecting water and promoting sustainability\, Lynn helps students understand human impacts on vital resources with extensive field and laboratory work. Sault College\, which has 5 accredited programs and 3 more in Qualified Candidate Status\, recently celebrated one year of accreditation for its School of Natural Environment programs. \nWhy this topic matter to me?: Students often have a narrow view of employment opportunities in the natural environment field. ECO Canada helps expand their awareness of green careers and provides many student resources. Accreditation has validated the high-quality programming that the School of Natural Environment provides for future environmental professionals. \nSpeaker: Pablo Pina\nAcademic Chair\, MacPhail School of Energy – SAIT\n \nBio: With over fifteen years in applied education\, Pablo holds a Doctorate from the University of Alberta and has worked in consulting and post-secondary institutions such as the University of Calgary and the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). As the Academic Chair of Sustainability at SAIT\, Pablo leads diploma programs in Chemical Laboratory Technology\, Environmental Technology\, and Integrated Water Management (the latter two accredited by ECO Canada). His programs emphasize forming proficient talent well-versed in laboratory work\, the outdoors\, and digital literacy. Passionate about sustainability and talent development\, Pablo serves on the Board of Directors at the Bow River Basin Council and the Alberta Council for Environmental Education. \nWhy this topic matter to me?: Empowering environmental education is both my mandate and passion\, given the crucial role of talent development in addressing today’s challenges\, such as climate change. Environmental professionals are essential in managing and advancing solutions to these issues. Partnering with organizations like ECO Canada ensures we maintain a national standard of quality in content and delivery\, allowing our team and students to integrate into a thriving community of professionals across Canada. \n  \nIn Partnership With:
