SUMMARY:Onboarding: Creating a Strong First Day
DESCRIPTION:Onboarding: Creating a Strong First Day is a practical course designed to help employers and managers create an effective onboarding experience from day one. Participants will learn how to prepare before a new hire starts\, structure the first day\, communicate role and workplace expectations\, introduce the employee to their team and organizational culture\, and establish meaningful check-ins and feedback. The course also explores how onboarding should continue beyond the first day\, with practical approaches for supporting learning\, role clarity\, performance expectations\, and employee integration throughout the first 90 days. \nParticipants will leave with practical tools and approaches to: \n\nPrepare managers\, systems\, documentation and the workplace before a new hire starts\nStructure a welcoming and productive first day\nCommunicate role expectations\, workplace norms and performance standards clearly\nEstablish effective manager check-ins and feedback practices\nBuild a simple 30/60/90-day onboarding plan\nIdentify common onboarding gaps before they become performance or retention issues\n\n  \nSpeaker:\n \nAndrew Janzik \nAndrew Janzikc\, currently HR Business Partner at ECO Canada has over 12 years of experience supporting employers with workplace policies\, recruitment\, retention\, employee relations\, performance management\, diversity and inclusion initiatives\, and workforce development. He has facilitated DEI workshops\, developed HR toolkits\, and provided consulting support through the CNER-G HR Builders Program\, helping Alberta employers strengthen retention\, recruitment\, employee relations\, and performance-management practices. \n  \nIntégration : Assurer une première journée réussie est un cours pratique conçu pour aider les employeurs et les gestionnaires à mettre en place une expérience d’intégration efficace dès le premier jour. Les participants apprendront comment se préparer avant l’arrivée d’un nouvel employé\, organiser la première journée\, communiquer les attentes liées au poste et au milieu de travail\, présenter l’employé à son équipe et à la culture organisationnelle\, et mettre en place des suivis et des rétroactions constructifs.
