SUMMARY:Ocean Analytics Bootcamp
DESCRIPTION:This intensive\, four-session program equips participants with practical skills to collect\, analyze\, visualize\, and apply ocean data for real-world decision-making. Through hands-on case studies\nand interactive exercises\, you’ll explore: \n\nData Collection & Management – from designing monitoring systems to tackling challenges like latency\, heterogeneity\, and quality control.\nStatistical & Quantitative Analysis – identifying patterns\, testing significance\, and addressing ocean-specific data pathologies.\nData Visualization & Communication – transforming complex datasets into compelling\, actionable insights for diverse stakeholders.\nGeospatial Analysis & Remote Sensing – leveraging GIS\, satellite imagery\, and spatial modeling to support marine planning\, conservation\, and sustainable industry growth.\n\nBy the end\, you’ll know how to move from anecdote to evidence\, integrate advanced analytical tools\, and apply ocean intelligence to fisheries\, conservation\, climate resilience\, and the blue economy. \n\nSessions Dates: \nSeptember 23\, 25\, 30 and October 30th \nMeet Your Speaker: Aditya Maheshwari \n \nAditya Maheshwari is a data scientist and educator specializing in advanced analytics. He has led data science projects across both the public and private sectors\, including work with government agencies\, financial institutions\, and research organizations. Aditya has extensive teaching experience\, having delivered analytics instruction at the University of Ottawa\, Carleton University\, the University of Texas\, and through private corporate training. He combines technical expertise with a passion for storytelling and visualization to help learners connect data-driven insights to real-world challenges.

SUMMARY:AI Tools For the Ocean Sector
DESCRIPTION:This interactive session is designed for professionals in small and medium-sized enterprises across the blue economy\,\nas well as anyone interested in developing practical skills in AI implementation. Participants will explore how AI can\nbe applied to everyday operations and decision-making\, with a focus on real-world tools and hands-on activities. \nLearning Outcomes\n\nUnderstand the role of AI in supporting operational efficiency for blue economy companies.\nIdentify AI tools relevant to business functions such as communications\, scheduling\, and forecasting.\nApply a no-code or low-code AI tool to a specific marine-related task.\nMap potential areas in your organization where AI could reduce time\, cost\, or inefficiency.\nRecognize key considerations for ethical and responsible AI use.\n\n\nSpeaker: Eric Li\n\n \nEric Li is a recent graduate from UBC with a combined major in computer science and statistics. With over two years of experience at M2M Tech as a data analyst\,\nEric has developed a strong foundation in applied technology and innovation. After completing a computer vision course at UBC (CPSC 425)\, he became deeply interested in the field\nand now focuses on exploring real-world applications of computer vision. Through his work at M2M Tech\, Eric is expanding the exploration of AI use cases and fostering discussions\nto highlight its potential. He is passionate about finding practical ways to integrate emerging technologies into everyday challenges\, helping drive progress where it matters most.
