DESCRIPTION:Various forms of unconscious bias\, and how this thinking comes to life through unintentional processes and practices\, hinder opportunities for many people and limit organizational success. \nJoin Dr. Melanie Peacock for this interactive session where different types of unconscious bias will be reviewed. This information will allow participants to better understand their own preconceived ideas\, both personally and professionally. \nActionable methods to lessen biases\, and therefore create more dynamic and inclusive environments\, will also be explored. Participants will leave with new understanding and practical ways to implement beneficial changes. \n  \nSpeaker: \n \nMelanie Peacock PhD\, MBA\, FCPHR\, SHRM-SCP \nDr. Melanie Peacock\, of Double M Training and Consulting\, has over 30 years of Human Resources Management expertise\, excelling in roles as a senior manager\, independent consultant\, author\, and educator. As a retired University professor\, she remains dedicated to engaging with others to share information\, thereby enabling people to embrace lifelong learning opportunities. In addition to authoring numerous text books\, Melanie has published her first work of fiction\, HR Can Be Murder. \nRecognized for her outstanding contributions\, she received HRD’s 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award at the Canadian HR Awards. Additionally\, CPHR Alberta has honored her with the Fellowship designation and Distinguished Career Award. Melanie was the recipient of the inaugural Mount Royal Faculty Association Teaching Excellence Award as well as a Professional Achievement Alumni Award from Western University. \nMelanie has led the way as the first woman of color in different leadership roles and is committed to illuminating pathways for more dynamic and inclusive opportunities for members of marginalized groups.
