Indigenous tribes located in this flat and icy region of Canada are noticing the effects of climate change the most. The main concern being that the seasonal ice is thinning or not fully-melting as it has in the past. Losing access to ice bridges has a domino effect in this region. When changing temperatures affect animal migrations, hunting and trapping are impacted. With thinner ice, significant danger is posed to critical goods and travellers on the ice roads.

These effects impact life in the North and especially life in Canada's indigenous communities.

The transition to ZEVs will reduce greenhouse gas emission to combat the warming of Canada's North as well as reducing more local effects from the emission of tailpipe soot which increase the rate at which snow and ice melts. Combined with other steps being taken, all of these efforts contribute to the preservation of the current climate and way of life.
