Managing Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Projects

Module 1 Learning Objectives

Module 1, An Introduction to Sustainability, is about understanding the concept of sustainability as it relates to energy. This knowledge is the first step to help shift the way we think about, use, and consume energy and manage energy projects. Module 1 gives you the tools you need to:

  • Identify the shared resources that we all use every day
  • Establish a context for sustainability and energy
  • Examine your relationship with and consumption of energy
  • Identify essential skills for managing energy efficiency and renewable energy projects

Module 2 Learning Objectives

In Module 2, Energy Efficiency and Retrofits, we’ll look at ways to reduce our energy consumption by using energy more efficiently. This module is separated into two parts.

In Part One, you will:

  • Define common terms specific to the energy industry
  • Recognize the purpose of an energy audit
  • Identify energy efficiency retrofits that can help reduce energy consumption and support sustainability

In Part Two, you will:

  • Complete a financial analysis of several energy efficiency projects
  • Identify how to calculate emissions

Module 3 Learning Objectives

In Module 3, Renewable Energy Resources and Generation, we’ll look at ways for homes and communities to generate their own energy and decrease demand for nonrenewable energy sources. By the end of this module, you’ll be able to:

  • Define renewable energy
  • Compare and contrast different renewable energy sources
  • Evaluate potential sites for renewable energy viability

Module 4 Learning Objectives

In Module 4, Implementing Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Solutions, we’ll look at the project life cycle and the process of implementing energy efficiency and renewable energy projects in your community. By the end of this module, you’ll be able to:

  • Outline the project management process for implementing green energy solutions
  • Define the purpose and benefits of a Community Energy Plan
  • Describe the steps to develop a Community Energy Plan
  • Identify ways to become a sustainable energy leader in your community

Module 5 Learning Objectives

In Module 5 you can expect a final evaluation and review of everything that you've learned throughout the four modules. After this, you will get a certificate showing you have completed this course.

How long will I have access to the course?

Once you have purchased the course, you will have six months of access to complete the course.

What is the course format?

This is an online, self-directed course. You’ll learn practical skills through expert videos, real-life scenarios, workbooks, and more.

How will I be recognized once I’ve completed the course?

You’ll receive a formal Certificate of Completion once you’ve completed all of the required course topics. This course also counts towards professional development credits for EP Certification.

Do I need to buy separate course materials (e.g. textbooks, guides, etc.)?

All of your learning materials are included, so you don’t need to buy anything extra.

How long does this course take?

It will take up to five hours to complete the course. You choose the pace and order that you want to complete the course topics.
