Talent in The Blue Economy: Explore some best practices in inclusive talent development and leadership

Join us for a series of webinars this spring to learn from leaders in the blue economy. Each session will feature a facilitated panel of experts followed by an opportunity to ask important questions.

Speaker: Ronnie Noonan
Environmental Studies Candidate 2023, Dalhousie University

Ronnie's background is in marine science and conservation, with a research interest in human-ocean systems. Her master's thesis applies the SDGs in a framework that can help enable a socially equitable, environmentally sustainable and economically viable blue economy. Ronnie is also the co-founder of ECOP Canada, whose mission is to achieve intergenerational equity by strengthening the diverse voices of early-career ocean professionals. She considers herself a steward of the Earth and is a passionate scuba diver.
Speaker: Tara Mascarenhas
Director, Programs, Students on Ice Foundation

Tara joined the Quebec-based SOI (Students on Ice) Foundation in 2016 as the Program Team Lead for the Canada C3 expedition, a journey on an ice-breaker that travelled the length of Canada’s coastline from the Great Lakes to Victoria via the Northwest Passage. Inspired by the journey’s legacy, she spearheaded and now manages Blue Futures Pathways, a program to engage diverse youth and young people in Canada’s emerging Sustainable Blue Economy. As SOI's Director of Programs, she also oversees the Alumni Program. Tara has a background in education, capacity development and international humanitarian aid, and a BA Honours from the University of Leeds, UK.
Speaker: Antoine Gagné
CTO, WhaleSeeker

Antoine studied biomedical engineering at École Polytechnique de Montréal, where he learned a lot about multidisciplinary projects. In his early career, he discovered the joys of programming and software engineering, which led him to refocus his energy on more computer science-related projects. After a quick foray in Silicon Valley, he came back to Montreal and co-founded Whale Seeker. This allowed him to bridge the gap between his love for programming and his hope of leaving a better planet for future generations.
