Women Leaders in the Environmental and Engineering Sector

This event will showcase the professional journey of our four speakers and the various successes, challenges, and barriers these experts have overcome. The panel will also be answering questions and giving their advice to women professionals in the Enviornmental and Enginnering sectors.

Facilitator: Jocelyn Peltier-Huntley
Founder of Prairie Catalyst Consulting.

Jocelyn Peltier-Huntley is an experienced facilitator, EDI researcher, public speaker, and professional mechanical engineer with over eighteen years of experience in the mining industry. In 2022 she was recognized by Engineers Canada as an EDI Champion. Jocelyn is driven to create awareness and remove roadblocks so that all individuals and organizations can realize the benefits of inclusion and achieve their full potential. she helps her clients lead changes by investigating problems, translating for common understanding, and implementing practical solutions to these problems. Jocelyn supports leaders to make changes with a consultative and collaborative approach that engages key stakeholders. Jocelyn has a B.Sc. with distinction in Mechanical Engineering and a M.Sc. in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Saskatchewan. She is a 2021 Vanier scholar and is working with International Minerals Innovation Institute and Mitacs on her PhD project, titled “Activating Allies”. After spending thirteen years of her career working at Canadian mining and mineral processing sites in technical and leadership roles, Jocelyn is now expanding her social impact potential by leading and inspiring positive change through EDI research, facilitation, public speaking, and consulting. Jocelyn is an active volunteer and Vice-Chair of the Board with Women in Mining and Women in Nuclear Saskatchewan. In her role as Vice-Chair, she has coordinated and facilitated strategic planning sessions and workshops, both in person and virtually. Jocelyn is currently the Chair of the Mentorship committee which paired more than 100 mentees and mentors from the Saskatchewan mining and nuclear industries.
Speaker: Marissa Reckmann
Chief Executive Officer

Marissa graduated from Lakehead University with a Bachelor of Science (Honors) degree in Chemistry. She gained experience working in an Inorganics Laboratory at Lakehead University as a Research Assistant under the direction of Dr. Craig MacKinnon prior to entering the private sector. She has over 16 years of experience in the Analytical Laboratory, Oil and Gas and Environmental Consulting industries across Canada which includes 5 years of experience in the environmental consulting field in Western Canada with a major focus in Upstream Oil and Gas activities from drilling and completions through to reclamation/remediation. In her current role as CEO of AGAT Laboratories, Marissa is focused on developing and leading the strategy and execution of continued growth plans across North America together with her executive and senior leadership teams. Her knowledge and experience within the business sector led her to being selected by Minister of Labour and Immigration in Alberta to represent 1 of 3 panelists to celebrate International Women’s Day and showcase women in leadership positions. This panel was moderated by Alberta Honourable Minister of Culture, Status of Women Leela Aheer, and included Olympic Gold Medalist Catriona Le May Doan, and leading entrepreneur Geeeta Sankappanavar. She also served as a Keynote Speaker at University of Alberta Women in Business Gala –presenting on the theme “Together towards Tomorrow”, and was recently highlighted by Alberta MLA Jeremy Nixon in his Women in Leadership series.
Speaker: Anne Gent
Lead Enviornmental Scientist

Over 20 years of experience in environmental research, consulting, and regulatory compliance has provided Anne with a broad perspective into many aspects of the mining industry and other industrial sectors. Collaborations with regulators, industry stakeholders, and community groups are all part of a typical day in her current role as Lead Environmental Scientist with Cameco Corporation. Anne holds a BSc in Land Use and Environmental Studies from the University of Saskatchewan and was the recipient of the 2016 Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum Bedford Canadian Young Mining Leaders Awards. Anne is actively involved on a variety of organizations and committees and previously served on the Board of Women in Nuclear Canada and is also the former Chair of the Board of Women in Mining and Women in Nuclear Saskatchewan, Inc. (WIM/WiN-SK). Anne remains an active volunteer with the WIN Canada Mentorship and Awards committees and with the WIM/WiN-SK Mentorship and Scholarship committees. Anne is also the founder of the WIM/WiN-SK Mentorship Program.
Speaker: Andrea Lougheed
Senior Giotechnical Engineer

Andrea Lougheed is a senior geotechnical engineer with BGC Engineering serving as their Soil Mechanics Discipline Lead. She specializes in soil mechanics with 16 years of experience on a wide range of geotechnical projects from large design-build transportation projects to tailings dams. Her experience includes static and seismic liquefaction assessment, numerical modelling, ground improvement, foundation design and tailings dam design. Having a strong belief in the importance of professional volunteerism, she has served as the Chair and Section Director with the Vancouver Geotechnical Society, the first female Co-Chair of the Canadian Geotechnical Conference (GeoVancouver 2016), and Section Representative and current Vice-President Finance for the Canadian Geotechnical Society (CGS). She is the recipient of the CGS’s A.G. Stermac and Early Achievement Awards

The panel discussion is on October 20th, 2022, from 10:00am – 11:00am MST. The webinar is free, and everyone is invited. Please tell your friends, colleagues, and family

It will then be followed by a 15-minute Q&A period.
