Managing Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Projects

Module 1, An Introduction to Sustainability, is about understanding the concept of sustainability as it relates to energy. This knowledge is the first step to help shift the way we think about, use, and consume energy and manage energy projects. Module 1 gives you the tools you need to:

• Identify the shared resources that we all use every day
• Establish a context for sustainability and energy
• Examine your relationship with and consumption of energy
• Identify essential skills for managing energy efficiency and renewable energy projects

In Module 3, Renewable Energy Resources and Generation, we’ll look at ways for homes and communities to generate their own energy and decrease demand for nonrenewable energy sources. By the end of this module, you’ll be able to:

• Define renewable energy
• Compare and contrast different renewable energy sources
• Evaluate potential sites for renewable energy viability

In Module 4, Implementing Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Solutions, we’ll look at the project life cycle and the process of implementing energy efficiency and renewable energy projects in your community. By the end of this module, you’ll be able to:

• Outline the project management process for implementing green energy solutions
• Define the purpose and benefits of a Community Energy Plan
• Describe the steps to develop a Community Energy Plan
• Identify ways to become a sustainable energy leader in your community

Module 5 Learning Objectives

In Module 5 you can expect a final evaluation and review of everything that you’ve learned throughout the four modules. After this, you will get a certificate showing you have completed this course.
