Blue Economy

The Blue Economy fosters sustainable use of ocean resources, supporting economic growth while protecting marine ecosystems. It focuses on sectors like fisheries, renewable energy, and coastal tourism, benefiting communities and industries. ECO Canada promotes initiatives that advance the blue economy by providing resources and opportunities for professionals to drive sustainable development.

Zero-Emission Vehicle Awareness Initiative

It aims to boost awareness and remove barriers in sustainable transportation, targeting farming, rural, remote, Indigenous communities, small businesses, and transportation companies across Canada.

Project IGNITE

Project IGNITE: Innovating GHG Reduction, Nurturing Institutions, and Training Enterprises for a Low-Carbon Economy. This project promotes low-carbon technology adoption and workforce development to cut greenhouse gas emissions. It tackles adoption barriers, addresses the skills gap, and expands networks for effective implementation.

Sharing Knowledge and Building Networks

This project empowers businesses and communities across Canada to adopt low-carbon technologies and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, supported by the Government of Canada’s Implementation Readiness Fund. By providing funding and assistance, ECO Canada will enhance readiness to implement emission-reduction projects and eliminate barriers to low-carbon adoption.

Work-Integrated Learning: A Net Zero Talent Pipeline

Canada will need over 40,000 skilled environmental workers entering the green workforce every year for the next decade. To bridge this gap and empower young Canadians to pursue meaningful work, this project offers innovative work integrated learning (iWIL) opportunities that equip students with practical net-zero skills and foster industry collaboration so we can build a future generation of environmental leaders.

Accessibility and Inclusion in the Environmental Sector

The Canadian Association for Supported Employment is a national association of community-based service providers and stakeholders advancing employment inclusion for persons with disability. They strive to promote full citizenship and personal capacity by facilitating increased labour market participation. Through workforce participation, CASE also promotes social inclusion for Canadians who experience disability.

Codes Acceleration Program for Indigenous Communities

The Codes Acceleration Program for Indigenous Communities trains and supports Indigenous communities in adopting high energy performance building codes.

Part of Canada’s Green Buildings Strategy aims to decarbonize the building sector by funding actions that promote these energy-efficient standards.

By fostering a more inclusive workforce, it contributes to a more equitable, innovative, and sustainable future.

Green House Gases of Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs)

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) contribute to Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions through various channels, including the production and transportation of goods. These emissions not only impact the environment but can also affect the long-term sustainability of your business. This toolkit shares practical strategies to reduce your carbon footprint effectively and help push the industry towards a more sustainable future.
