Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Practice

Overview

The Bachelor’s in Environmental Practice at Royal Roads University is delivered entirely online to meet your flexible education needs, and leverages partnerships with universities and colleges across Canada to provide a wide upper-level elective offering. This program is for self-motivated learners, is 60 credits in length and can be completed in as little as two and a half years, depending on your schedule and applicable transfer credit(s).

The workload is approximately 18-25 hours per week.

Master's Degree in Environmental Practice

Overview

The Master’s in Environmental Practice fully online program is built for flexibility, enabling working professionals to pursue their education without disrupting their careers. With a 30-credit structure (10 courses), the Master’s Degree in Environmental Practice is designed to be completed in as little as three years. Students engage in interactive online courses and can select from a range of electives and complete either a research paper or a practicum

Graduate Certificate in Science and Policy of Climate Change

Overview

The Graduate Certificate in Science and Policy of Climate Change is fully online and consists of three courses which can be completed in less than a year! The curriculum includes a combination of readings, interactive lectures, discussions, and collaborative projects, providing a flexible yet rigorous learning experience. Basic computer skills are necessary to navigate course materials and contribute to discussions meaningfully.

These courses will typically range from 10-20 weeks long.

Certificate in Indigenous Environmental Leadership

Overview

The Certificate in Indigenous Environmental Leadership program consists of nine online courses and an on-site practicum taught by Indigenous Scholars. The program merges traditional Indigenous wisdom with contemporary environmental practices and offers students hands-on practical and theoretical learning opportunities. Online courses in this program are typically 10 to 14 weeks long. 

Each online course requires approximately 20 hours of work per week.

Certificate in Indigenous Environmental Leadership

The program is designed to prepare Indigenous learners to work with environmental organizations in their communities and nations to identify and address environmental challenges.

It considers various approaches to protect, maintain, and restore ecosystems in communities and territories, as well as new approaches to addressing environmental challenges including climate change, species loss, and land and water degradation.

Graduate Certificate in Science and Policy of Climate Change

This graduate certificate is designed for practitioners who want to move into the expanding field of climate science and policy. The completion of a bachelor’s degree is required for admission to this certificate program; however, flexible admission is available.

This program provides in-depth knowledge in both the science and policy side of climate change for a full picture to help you navigate the implications for your organization and provide expertise on solutions to address climate change impacts.

Master in Environmental Practice

Advance into a leadership or management role without putting your career on hold. Graduates of this program will be able to relate their knowledge to environmental issues in their work environment. 

Along with assessing the environmental and socioeconomic elements of sustaining a healthy environment, they will develop and evaluate goals, objectives and strategies, prepare, communicate and implement action plans and make decisions that require a broad understanding of environmental knowledge, policy and regulation, and leadership skills.

Bachelor in Environmental Practice

If you want to complete an undergraduate degree, transition to or enter the environmental sector with a career-focused, second degree, this program can help you meet your goals. Students will gain a practical, workplace-ready environmental skillset grounded in critical thinking and theory.

This program is best suited for students with some college courses or those with a diploma or associate’s degree who want to expand their environmental knowledge and contributions.
