Shaping the Future of Canada’s Blue Economy: Attend the Ocean Alliance Canada (OAC) Conference 2025

As Canada’s ocean sector stands at the threshold of transformation, the Ocean Alliance Canada (OAC) Conference 2025 offers a timely and vital opportunity to shape the future of our blue economy. Taking place September 3–4, 2025, at the Westin Nova Scotian in Halifax, this two-day event brings together leaders, innovators, and changemakers from across the country and beyond.

With a focus on innovation, inclusion, and global opportunity, the OAC Conference is more than a gathering—it is a call to action for those committed to building a sustainable, resilient, and equitable ocean future.

A National Forum for Ocean Workforce Transformation

The 2025 conference is designed to foster meaningful dialogue and practical collaboration across sectors. Attendees will engage in hands-on workshops, strategic panels, and networking sessions that address the most pressing challenges and opportunities in Canada’s ocean economy.

From the integration of artificial intelligence in marine industries to advancing equity in ocean leadership, the agenda reflects the complexity and urgency of our times. Participants will leave with not only new insights but also actionable strategies to implement in their own organizations and communities for a more sustainable future.

Highlights from the Program

Day 1: Innovation, Inclusion & Governance

The conference opens with a deep dive into the role of AI in ocean business, offering practical tools and the first OAC Steering Committee Meeting. If you are not an OAC member, you can find strategies to advance inclusion and equity in our Waves of Inclusion Workshop.

Day 2: Charting Global Opportunities & Workforce Futures

Day two shifts focus to Canada’s role on the global stage. Keynotes and panels will explore international development, ocean diplomacy, and the future of workforce development. Afternoon sessions will spotlight women in ocean leadership and the next generation of blue careers.

Why This Conference Matters

Canada’s ocean economy is evolving rapidly. As technological innovation and global policy are reshaping the marine landscape, the need for coordinated, forward-thinking leadership has never been greater.

The OAC Conference is dedicated specifically to the future of Canada’s ocean workforce. It is a space where industry meets academia, policy meets practice, and vision meets action.

Whether you are a policymaker, researcher, innovator, or community leader, your voice is needed at the table.

Land Acknowledgment

In the spirit of respect, reciprocity, and truth, we acknowledge that we live, work, and gather on the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, including the Blackfoot Confederacy—comprising the Siksika, Kainai, and Piikani Nations—as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina Nations.

This land, known as Moh’kinsstis in the Blackfoot language and encompassing what is now Districts 5 and 6, is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3, within the historical Northwest Métis homeland.

We recognize and honour the deep connection these Nations have to the land, and we are grateful for the opportunity to share in its stewardship.

As we continue our work, we commit to learning from Indigenous knowledge systems, uplifting Indigenous voices, and fostering relationships rooted in equity, understanding, and reconciliation.
