Climate Risk Readiness for Organizations: Understanding Risks, Responsibilities and the Pathway to Resilience

September 22 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

$99

Join us September 22nd and 24th for 2, 90-minute sessions on Climate Risk Readiness for Organizations.

This virtual workshop will introduce the key components of a credible organizational climate risk assessment, including scope, climate hazards, exposure, vulnerability, business consequences, adaptive capacity and resilience planning. Participants will work through a fictional Canadian case study, identify potential climate-risk pathways, complete a high-level organizational readiness assessment and prepare an initial action plan outlining priority next steps.

You will leave with a stronger understanding of the climate assessment process; the questions organizations need to address and a practical readiness roadmap for moving forward, providing a useful bridge between introductory climate-risk awareness and more technical, organization-specific assessment and implementation work.

Who should attend:

The workshop would be designed for environmental professionals, sustainability practitioners, consultants, municipal staff, facility managers and organizational leaders who need to understand climate risk but may not yet be ready to undertake a full climate risk assessment.

The course would focus on helping participants:

  • Understand what a credible climate risk assessment involves
  • Recognize organizational climate-risk exposure and information gaps
  • Understand the role of climate scenarios and future time horizons
  • Identify climate-sensitive operational and asset dependencies
  • Understand how resilience actions may be prioritized
  • Connect climate risk with asset management, business continuity, capital planning and enterprise risk management
  • Determine when specialist technical support may be required
