Nature-based Coastal Restoration and Blue Carbon

August 18 @ 10:00 am - 6:00 pm

FREE

Coastal ecosystems such as salt marshes, seagrass meadows, and other marine habitats play a critical role in protecting shorelines, supporting biodiversity, and storing carbon. As climate change, habitat degradation, and increasing coastal pressures threaten these ecosystems, communities are seeking practical, nature-based solutions that strengthen resilience while delivering environmental, social, and economic benefits.

This two-day micro-credential equips participants with the knowledge and tools needed to design, evaluate, and advance coastal restoration and blue carbon initiatives. Through expert-led instruction, participants will explore Canadian restoration practices, blue carbon accounting and monitoring approaches, carbon markets, project finance, and community-led implementation models. The course emphasizes practical decision-making and helps participants build the capacity to develop restoration projects that support climate action, ecosystem health, and long-term community sustainability.

Participants will receive:

  • Two days of live online instruction delivered by an industry expert
  • A digital course textbook and learning resources
  • A Certificate of Completion

Course Modules:

  • Module 1 : Coastal Ecosystems & Climate Resilience
  • Module 2 : Canadian Coastal Restoration Science & Practice
  • Module 3 : Blue Carbon Accounting & MRV
  • Module 4 : Carbon Standards, Markets & Constraints
  • Module 5 :  Project Finance & Community Models
