Admission Requirements

The Undergraduate Certificate in Indigenous Environmental Leadership is designed to support Indigenous learners and those working with Indigenous communities who are committed to environmental stewardship and leadership.

Standard admission

  • Graduation from a recognized secondary school or equivalent
  • Interest in environmental leadership and community-based work
  • Applicants who identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit) are strongly encouraged to apply

Flexible admission

Applicants may be considered based on a combination of:

  • Relevant work, volunteer, or community experience
  • Lived experience and connection to Indigenous communities
  • Demonstrated interest in environmental stewardship or leadership

As a guideline, applicants are encouraged to have at least two years of relevant experience in environmental or community-focused work (paid or volunteer).

Completion of programs such as ECO Canada’s BEAHR training may be considered in support of your application.
