2025 National Model Codes – A New Era of Building Performance

May 22 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

The 2025 National Model Codes, including the National Energy Code for Buildings (NECB) and National Building Code (NBC), are now released.
This edition of the codes represents a significant shift in how Canada approaches building performance. For the first time, the codes introduce clear, measurable limits on operational greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. They also add new compliance pathways and updated climatic data that better reflect the realities of a changing climate, while strengthening energy-efficiency requirements. A new Part 10 introduces best practices for alterations to existing buildings. This all signals a move toward decarbonization, energy-savings, resilience, and thoughtful future-proofing of our building stock. Join us for an overview of the changes and why they matter to communities across the country.
