Learn more about RRU’s Undergraduate Certificate program In Indigenous Environmental Leadership (IELP) and Bachelor of Environmental Practice (BEP), including how these programs combine practical environmental skills, leadership, and Indigenous knowledge to prepare students for careers in the environmental sector.

IELP: This Certificate combines the deep-rooted stewardship of your Indigenous culture with practical environmental science and leadership skills. This program fosters a collaborative learning space for emerging and experienced Indigenous leaders, blending traditional knowledge with modern practices to address today’s environmental challenges and shape a sustainable future for your community.

BEP: The Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Practice (BEP), offered in partnership with Royal Roads University, is designed to equip you with the skills, knowledge, and real-world experience needed to lead in today’s rapidly evolving environmental landscape. Whether your passion lies in the arts or sciences, the BEP offers two distinct pathways tailored to your interests and career goals.

Meet the Speakers:

Rhett Reilkoff

Manager, School of Environment & Sustainability, RRU

Rhett holds a B.Sc. in Land Use and Environmental Studies (University of Saskatchewan) and an MA in Environment & Management (RRU). With experience in the non-profit sector and consulting for environmental organizations, he now leads the School of Environment and Sustainability at Royal Roads University.

Dr. Leslie King

Professor, Program Head, Director – Canadian Center for Environmental Education, RRU

Dr. King has dedicated her career to advancing environmental education and sustainability. Her expertise spans environmental sciences, Indigenous perspectives, climate change, biodiversity, governance, and justice. She has held senior academic roles across Canada and the U.S., and her research includes projects in climate adaptation, knowledge systems, biodiversity, and environmental literacy worldwide.
