Join ECO Canada for an engaging half-day event that delves into how energy efficiency and building codes intersect with Indigenous-led infrastructure initiatives.

“NECB and Indigenous Infrastructure: Codes, Compliance, and Community” will bring together Indigenous leaders, technical experts, and community voices to connect, share knowledge, and collaborate on how the National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings (NECB) can help shape sustainable, resilient, and culturally relevant infrastructure in Indigenous communities. 

Through presentations and open dialogue, the event will explore the benefits of adopting the NECB while addressing the practical challenges of meeting code requirements and ensuring effective enforcement.

Robin Lucidarme

Decarbonization Strategist | Sustainability Advocate | Engineering Professional

Originally from Flanders, Belgium, Robin Lucidarme holds a background in electromechanical engineering and spent 18 years working in the global manufacturing sector. Six and a half years ago, Robin moved to Canada with a clear vision: to bring automation and manufacturing best practices into the building industry to accelerate sustainability efforts.

Today, Robin serves as a Decarbonization Strategist at Sustainable Projects Group (SPG), working closely with property managers, property owners, municipalities, and industrial clients. His mission is to help decarbonize buildings and operations through a structured and actionable approach. This includes delivering energy audits, conducting feasibility studies, and developing comprehensive decarbonization and capital plans to guide clients from strategy to execution.

Robin’s expertise spans energy auditing, building condition assessments, ISO 50001 implementation, capital planning, financing, and securing project incentives. He combines deep technical knowledge with practical experience to drive real-world sustainability outcomes.

In addition to his professional role, Robin is the President of the local chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), where he actively promotes knowledge-sharing, professional development, and awareness of sustainability challenges and opportunities within the energy and building sectors.

Marc Trudeau

Marc leads a team of engineers who provide building performance and sustainability services. Projects include whole-building energy and greenhouse gas modelling, passive house, embodied carbon, thermal comfort analysis, and LEED consulting. As a Professional Engineer and Architect, Marc understands the value of multi-disciplinary collaboration in achieving results.

In the spirit of respect, reciprocity, and truth, we acknowledge that we live, work, and gather on the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, including the Blackfoot Confederacy—comprising the Siksika, Kainai, and Piikani Nations—as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina Nations.

This land, known as Moh’kinsstis in the Blackfoot language and encompassing what is now Districts 5 and 6, is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3, within the historical Northwest Métis homeland.
