Wildlife Monitoring with Environmental Sensors – Remote Camera & Audio Recording Units

ECO Canada will be delivering a Train-the-Trainer session for a new BEAHR course, “Wildlife Monitoring with Environmental Sensors – Remote Cameras & Audio Recording Units”, developed in partnership with the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) and the University of Alberta. The course focuses on biodiversity monitoring using remote camera and audio recording technologies.

The Wildlife Monitoring Course will be integrated as part of BEAHR Environmental Monitoring Training Program.

The training includes:

  • Three days of online learning (April 20–22) – 8 hours per day
  • One day of in-person field training in Edmonton (April 23) – familiarization with the equipment and hands-on practice with field equipment installation.
    Transportation from a central location will be provided.

Participants will learn:

  • Foundations of wildlife monitoring, including Indigenous perspectives, and how remote camera and audio recording unit sensors operate.
  • Hands-on skills for preparing, setting up, and troubleshooting field equipment.
  • Techniques for safe and accurate deployment, refresh, retrieval, and documentation
  • Fundamentals of data management and interpreting monitoring results

Registration

This course is offered at no cost to licensed BEAHR trainers. Other interested trainers are also welcome to participate.
