The transition to a low-carbon economy depends not only on technology and policy, but on people. Skilled professionals who can measure, manage, and meaningfully reduce greenhouse gas emissions are now at the center of global climate action.
GHG management is one of the fastest-growing environmental specializations, yet credentialed professionals remain scarce. To close that gap, ECO Canada and GHGMI have partnered to offer a market-ready international EP®(GHG) designation to GHG professionals: the title is helping define a revised new standard for professional competence in greenhouse gas management, equipping practitioners with the skills needed to address emissions accounting, reporting, and climate strategy in a rapidly evolving regulatory and environmental landscape.
April 2026 marked the first official certifications granted by the CECAB Board to four GHG Professionals who decided to take a further step into their career and get the EPt(GHG) designation. Congratulations to Isuri Ranchigoda Gamage, Abhijeet Nehra, Mohammed Abubakar, and Maddie Hague.
We would like to further present Isuri Ranchigoda Gamage and Abhijeet Nehra to you, two individuals who reflect the growing momentum behind this globally recognized credential.
Isuri Ranchigoda Gamage, EPt(GHG) since April 2026
Isuri Gamage’s journey into environmental work began with curiosity, specifically, how human activity reshapes natural systems and how those impacts can be measured and managed responsibly.
She built a strong academic foundation through a B.Sc. Honours in Environmental Management and Forestry, followed by a Master’s in Environmental Engineering, where she focused on environmental systems, pollution control, and data-driven problem solving.
This practical perspective now informs her growing focus on GHG accounting, emissions measurement, and carbon footprint analysis, where she aims to support organizations moving from compliance-based reporting toward proactive climate strategies.
A defining milestone in her journey has been becoming an EPt(GHG) with ECO Canada under the EP®(GHG) designation framework. For Isuri, this designation represents both professional structure and credibility, reinforcing her commitment to ethical practice and continuous development in greenhouse gas management.

Abhijeet Nehra, EPt(GHG) since April 2026
Abhijeet Nehra brings complementary expertise to the EP®(GHG) community through his work in sustainability reporting and environmental economics, with a strong focus on GHG accounting and data-driven disclosures.
Within the EP®(GHG) pathway framework, his expertise reflects the growing need for professionals who can translate complex emissions data into clear, credible reporting aligned with emerging global standards.
With an interdisciplinary background spanning political science and environmental management, Abhi brings a systems-level perspective to climate accountability and greenhouse gas management. Holding both an M.A. in Political Science and an M.Sc. in Environmental Management and Resources, Abhi is uniquely positioned to understand the intersection of policy, governance, and environmental practice.
Abhi’s experience as a Research Associate with the Centre for Security and Strategy Studies and as a Research Intern with the National Maritime Foundation has strengthened his analytical capabilities, particularly in assessing global challenges and resource-related issues.
Complementing Abhi’s academic background, he has completed specialized training in Organizational GHG Accounting through GHGMI, as well as GHG Verification Training with Greensky Sustainability Inc. These trainings demonstrate a clear commitment to building technical competency in emissions quantification and verification.
As an EPt(GHG), Abhi is at the beginning of a focused career path in greenhouse gas management, with a strong interest in contributing to transparent reporting, credible verification, and effective climate action strategies across sectors.
The EP®(GHG) Designation in a Nutshell: Recognizing Expertise
Developed through a partnership between ECO Canada and the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute (GHGMI), the EP®(GHG) designation is designed to strengthen professional capacity in greenhouse gas management and climate accountability.
