Join ECO Canada at the free Environmental Professional Networking Event on October 28, 2024, at The Hollis Halifax! This is a fantastic opportunity for ECO Canada’s network of Environmental Professionals to gather in Halifax, NS for an evening of connection and camaraderie. The only requirement? A passion for meeting new people! Enjoy a vibrant atmosphere, delicious food, and lively conversations with fellow professionals in the environmental sector. Make sure to register so we can prepare for this special event.

Another highlight of this event will be a discussion featuring four inspiring women leaders as part of our Women in Leadership series. This panel will provide valuable insights as each panellist shares her experiences in the ocean, agriculture, and agri-food sectors, detailing their journeys to success. They will also discuss the critical role of women in decision-making positions and the impact of diverse leadership on these industries.

Rosmarie Lohnes, President and CEO of Helping Nature Heal, will facilitate panellists Dr. Sherry Scully, Director of Workforce Development at The PIER at the Seaport, Magali Gregoire, Founder and Executive Director of Back to the Sea Society, and Maxine
Westhead, Director of Marine Affairs Program at Dalhousie University.

Nous reconnaissons que ce territoire abrite la Nation métisse de l’Alberta, la région 3 au sein de la patrie historique des Métis du Nord-Ouest. Enfin, nous reconnaissons toutes les nations qui vivent, travaillent et se divertissent sur ce territoire, et qui l’honorent et le célèbrent.

Land Acknowledgment

In the spirit of respect, reciprocity, and truth, we acknowledge that we live, work, and gather on the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, including the Blackfoot Confederacy—comprising the Siksika, Kainai, and Piikani Nations—as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina Nations.

This land, known as Moh’kinsstis in the Blackfoot language and encompassing what is now Districts 5 and 6, is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3, within the historical Northwest Métis homeland.

We recognize and honour the deep connection these Nations have to the land, and we are grateful for the opportunity to share in its stewardship.

As we continue our work, we commit to learning from Indigenous knowledge systems, uplifting Indigenous voices, and fostering relationships rooted in equity, understanding, and reconciliation.
