Climate Action Adaptation: Opportunities for Emission Reduction

October 4, 2023 @ 8:30 am - 12:00 pm

FREE

Canada has established ambitious emissions reduction targets, aiming for a 40-45% reduction by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2050. Small and Medium businesses, responsible for roughly 30% of Canada’s emissions, are pivotal in achieving these goals. The City of Calgary aligns its targets with the national agenda to reach net-zero emissions by 2050.

ECO Canada is actively collaborating with businesses to enhance operational efficiency, reduce emissions, and decrease carbon taxes. This approach, coined “Transition to Green,” not only aligns with environmental objectives but also makes strong business sense by lowering operational costs and minimizing environmental impact.

To delve deeper into these crucial matters, we invite you to join us on October 4th at the Kahanoff Centre in Calgary, starting at 8:30 AM until 12:00 PM MDT. This event will feature a series of expert discussions centred around Greenhouse Gas management and the challenges and opportunities for emission reduction specifically tailored for Small and Medium Businesses.

Land Acknowledgment

In the spirit of respect, reciprocity, and truth, we acknowledge that we live, work, and gather on the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, including the Blackfoot Confederacy—comprising the Siksika, Kainai, and Piikani Nations—as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina Nations.

This land, known as Moh’kinsstis in the Blackfoot language and encompassing what is now Districts 5 and 6, is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3, within the historical Northwest Métis homeland.

We recognize and honour the deep connection these Nations have to the land, and we are grateful for the opportunity to share in its stewardship.

As we continue our work, we commit to learning from Indigenous knowledge systems, uplifting Indigenous voices, and fostering relationships rooted in equity, understanding, and reconciliation.
